In the West Bank, rising violence stirs memories of the Intifada


The Israeli army is carrying out its largest operation in more than twenty years. The death toll is reaching record levels.

In the north of the West Bankthe Israeli army is conducting its largest operation since 2002. Called “Summer Camp”, it began nearly ten days ago. On Thursday, it was still ongoing. On the night of August 27-28, simultaneously, troops entered several localities of this territory militarily occupied since 1967: in the city and refugee camp of Jenin, in those of Tulkarem and Tubas. At least 36 Palestinians were killed during these fighting involving, on the side Israeliair attacks and, on the Palestinian side, the use of increasingly powerful explosive devices, but also sniper fire and, for the first time, anti-tank missiles.
