A Turkish-American citizen was killed in West Bank by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) while participating in a protest against settlement expansion. The government-run Palestine News Agency said the victim, identified as Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, was shot in the town of Beita, located south of Nablus. The girl’s family has called for a“independent investigation”

“His presence in our lives was brutally, unjustly and illegally torn away by the Israeli army,” the family wrote, calling for an investigation separate from the Israeli one.

IDF: “Military responded to attacks”

An 18-year-old Palestinian was also injured during the protest, which turned violent after demonstrators clashed with IDF forces.

On X, the IDF explained that the military responded with fire at protesters who were throwing stones at them.

Local Palestinian media said the woman was involved in a campaign to the protection of Palestinian farmers from the Israeli army. Turkish media reported that Ezgi Eygi was born in Antalya and had US citizenship. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called it “a barbaric event.”
